This atypical version begins with low-key funk and then drifts into a more spacious minor jam which comes into focus as it gains a pulsing drive backed by synths before eventually growing more upbeat and ends unfinished > "PYITE".
The final version of "PYITE's" remarkable 2025 once again features an extended improvisational intro. Syncopated funk, synths, and effects all feature prominently in this newfound addition to the song's structure.
Around 6:45 we shift from "Theme" to a seedy funk groove. From there the band builds into a shimmery strut behind ominous chords from Trey & Page's focus on the Clav. What develops is a very focused and singular theme which will guide the extended cut of "Theme" into easily the longest version played to date. Reminiscent in focus to the extended jams of Natural Information Society. Deep chin stroke groove jamming. Around 21min, Mike helps guide a shift to dreamlike bliss which is quickly overtaken by shards of noise and effects. The jam moves into a final uplifting space before -> "Simple."
Versions phish.net's jam charts single out as noteworthy.
Trey teased Norwegian Wood in Roggae. Wolfman's Brother, Down with Disease, and Theme from the Bottom were unfinished. Sleep featured Trey on acoustic guitar and was performed for the first time since November 29, 2019 (231 shows). Trey teased Manteca in Down with Disease.
