Jamming is groovy, and very cool at times (MIKE!), but still kinda dull for stretches. Good -> "Have Mercy"
-> in from "Have Mercy." Similar to, but more stretched out than 7/3/99. Yet it doesn't have quite the melodic bliss.
A brief blues jam is played while guest artist Son Seals leaves the stage. > to "DwD."
Blistering hot straightforward jam eventually runs out of fuel and gasps for breath for a stretch before regaining momentum and focus and returning to "DwD."
-> in from "Wolfman's Brother." Great relaxed jam emerges from the back end of this "Sally." Gathers energy with Page and Trey adding nicely to a solid Mike/Fish groove. > to "Timber (Jerry)."
Even further removed from the typical "Timber" jam than the '98 offering, this version is quite subdued and passively brooding. It gains momentum and power, but has none of the fury of earlier years. A high quality version nonetheless.

This was the first show of the Camp Oswego festival. Have Mercy was played for the first time since November 12, 1994 (336 shows). Son Seals sat in on guitar and vocals for his own composition, Funky Bitch, as well as the Phish debut of On My Knees. Afterwards, a brief blues jam was played as Son left the stage. DWD included a You Better Believe It Baby tease from Mike. Sneakin' Sally did not contain a vocal jam.
