Brother to versions from 6/20/95, 7/30/03 and 7/16/13. Incredible improvisation packed into this 10 minute version.
Although largely straightforward, there is a nice shift to major mode at about 7:42, plus a very gradual build up to the peak.
Features an epic, mid-jam "Bowie" -> "Cities" -> "Bowie." And interspersed among a substantial amount of tight, well-played "Type I" jamming are several forays that get beyond "Bowie."
Fantastic -> in from "David Bowie" and -> back to "David Bowie."
-> in from "Cities" to conclude this heavy-duty "Bowie."
Versions phish.net's jam charts single out as noteworthy.
Twist (with Chuck E’s in Love lyrics), Blues Jam, Makisupa Policeman
Trey teased Yours Is No Disgrace prior to NICU. Wolfman’s included a Fire (Ohio Players) tease from Trey and a Take Me to the River jam. The Bowie intro featured Fish on vaccum and included a Simpsons signal; Matt Groening, creator of The Simpsons, was reportedly in attendance. Bowie also contained a When Johnny Comes Marching Home tease from Mike. This show was released as part of the Ventura box set.
